A discussion on the use of responsible resources, materials and methods, moderated by HML’s Jonsara Ruth featuring four visionary European designers.
Our present moment is marked by increasing, unprecedented environmental and humanitarian challenges, and as architects and designers, we have a role to play. We must reassess how we address issues of waste, well-being, justice, climate, and social equity. ECO Solidarity, founded in 2020 by the Polish Cultural Institute New York in collaboration with ICFF and WantedDesign, aims to facilitate dialogue and action amongst designers. This month, ECO Solidarity returns to ICFF at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in NYC and has invited HML to participate for the third time.
Our participation this year is a panel discussion moderated by Jonsara Ruth called “Ethics in Materiality: Restoring Sustainable Balance”. This panel will feature European designers that are exploring ways to create aesthetically pleasing, functional design that respect local resources, use healthier substances, and is mindful of our wasteful practices. Panelists include Angel Mombiedro, principal of Armombiedro Studio; Paulina Grabowska, founder of NASDRA Conscious Design; Dagmar Zvonickova Fredholm, co-founder of Novavita Design Lab; and Vlasta Kubušová, co-founder of crafting plastics. These experts will share insights on their material research and sustainable developments.
ECO Solidarity aims to reshape public and living spaces by promoting the latest in sustainable design. It is co-curated by Odile Hainaut, Brand Director for ICFF and Izabela Gola from the Polish Cultural Institute New York, and we are proud to be participating this year. The program is made possible with the support from the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), including Czech Center New York and the Polish Cultural Institute New York, with support from the Consulate General of Portugal in New York and the Consulate General of Spain in New York.
ECOSolidarity will take place on May 21 at 1:30pm on the Oasis Stage at ICFF at the Javits Center. We hope to see you there!
