TRUSTED RESOURCES
OpenDetail
OpenDetail is a crowd-sourced knowledge sharing platform designed to make details and insights on biogenic materials easily accessible. Developed by Henning Larsen in collaboration with Business Academy Copenhagen (EK) and CHEVRANT, it is meant to accelerate the adoption of biogenic materials in the construction industry. Users can both contribute and download material detail drawings in an open format.
Biogenic design solutions have the potential to transform the construction industry’s carbon footprint. This open-source platform aims to bridge the knowledge gap and make biogenic construction details accessible.
The platform is free to access here.
The tool compiles the best practices for working with biogenic materials like timber, reed, hemp, clay, and mycelium, in 2D and 3D formats. It includes drawings of architectural details, along with metadata such as: detailed specifications for construction, maintenance guidelines, u-values, fire ratings, Global Warming Potential, and liability concerns. Users are encouraged to upload their construction details and help grow the repository.
"To speed up the use of low-emission solutions in the construction industry, knowledge must be available and accessible," Katrine Juul, Lead Sustainability Architect, Henning Larsen.
