We’re giving you a glimpse into the world of Hemp and Lime building. We’re off the farms, the plants are out of the ground, and we’re going to see what it takes to build a house out of hemp.
Since the passage of the Farm Bills something that’s commonly called hempcrete or, as we call it, HempLime, has been gaining traction here in the US. Simply put, it’s a building material that’s made of hemp, lime and water. That’s it!
In this episode we’ll drop in on a HempLime construction workshop that we at Healthy Materials Lab hosted alongside Coexist Building, a HempLime company from Pennsylvania. HML Directors Alison Mears and Jonsara Ruth will take us through the basics of building with hemp and we’ll pay a visit to CoExist’s farm in Blandon, Pennsylvania to hear about their hemp house on wheels.
