Mindful Materials

The Mindful Materials database provides design industry professionals with the opportunity to research information on a wide range of products. The product information on the site has been uploaded voluntarily by manufacturers, and includes disclosure documents and certifications such as Cradle to Cradle, Health Product Declarations, and Declare labels.

Cradle to Cradle Certified Products Registry

Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute

The Cradle to Cradle Certified Products Registry includes products that have received certification in all five of C2C's quality categories, including material health, material reutilization, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness.

Declare Product Database

International Living Future Institute

Declare is a transparency platform and product database. Use it to find building products that have declared their ingredients, source and manufacturing locations. Products may be labeled Declared, Living Building Challenge Compliant, or Living Building Challenge Red List Free.

Health Product Declaration (HPD) Public Repository

Health Product Declaration® Collaborative (HPDC)

The Health Product Declaration (HPD) Public Repository is where you can go to find the most up-to-date collection of HPD-Compliant product disclosures. This database has come out of the original platform developed by SmithGroupJJR, and has since become the most complete library of HPD records.

Cradle to Cradle Material Health Registry

Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute

The Cradle to Cradle Material Health Registry includes all products that have received only the C2C Material Health Certificate, as opposed to those that have the full C2C Product Certification in all five categories.

International EPD Database

An EPD® (Environmental Product Declaration) is an independently verified and registered document that communicates transparent and comparable information about the life-cycle environmental impact of products. This database lets you search for declarations for specific manufacturers and products as well as browse by product type or country.

BIFMA Level Product Database

You can use the BIFMA Level Product Database to find furniture products that are level certified. Level considers at human and ecosystem health, materials, energy, and social responsibility in order to find products that are environmentally and socially responsible.

NAF, ULEF & NAUF Company List

The manufacturers in this list offer composite wood products with “no added formaldehyde” (NAF), ultra-low emitting formaldehyde (ULEF), and/or CARB Phase 2 certified emission levels as part of their product mix.

CARB Compliant Manufacturers

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is a state organization that fights air pollution. Their standards for wood products focus on eliminating the formaldehyde that is a harmful ingredient used in many composite woods. This site lists all of the manufacturers who create CARB compliant products. Manufacturers are listed as NAF (No Added Formaldehyde) or ULEF (Ultra-low Emitting Formaldehyde.)

BuildingClean Certified Product Searches

BlueGreen Alliance Foundation

In the Product Searches section of BuildingClean's database, you can explore materials in five categories: insulation, sealants, water filtration, paint and wall coverings, and windows, doors, and skylights. Within these sections, you can find products that are made from certain materials, carry certifications such as Living Product Certification and C2C Gold, or that have met transparency standards such as Declare Red List Free.

OEKO-TEX® Certified Textiles Library

OEKO-TEX® certifies textiles with their STANDARD 100 certification based on the absence of harmful chemicals and the exposure level and population that someone may have with the fabric. On their textiles library, you can find textiles that are STANDARD 100 certified or that carry one of their other certifications.

EPA Safer Choice Certified Products

Environmental Protection Agency

The EPA Safer Choice Certified Products database lists the certified cleaning products, which have undergone a voluntary review of their impact on human and environmental health. On the database, you can filter results by product type, their intended use (home or business,) and whether the product contains fragrance or can be used outdoors.

EU Ecolabel

European Commission

The EU Ecolabel helps you identify products and services that have a reduced environmental impact throughout their life cycle, from the extraction of raw material through to production, use and disposal. EU Ecolabel focuses on everyday materials such as cleaning products and furniture more than building products.

Sustainable Minds

The Sustainable Minds Transparency Catalog allows you to search by brand for a wide range of products with certifications and disclosure documents such as Environmental Product Declarations and Declare labels. The database also has information on requirements for the different certification systems.

Portico

Healthy Building Network (HBN)

Portico is a product evaluation tool geared toward industry professionals. The platform allows you to integrate project management, product research, and product information requests. The products listed on the database are scored based on material health and transparency criteria using the Pharos Chemical Hazard Database.

Origin

Origin connects a range of material evaluations and libraries, including Mindful Materials, to help you find certification and disclosure information on a large body of products. In addition to the information you can find in a library like Mindful Materials, Origin contains a database of disclosure and certification documents such as level and Cradle to Cradle certifications and Health and Environmental Product Declarations.

EcoScorecard

EcoScorecard lets you search for building products that meet certain sustainability standards. Their online database links information about environmental impact and disclosure documentation such as Environmental Product Declarations.

Designer Pages Pro, BuildingGreen Product Collections

BuildingGreen Approved is an independent product evaluation service with product listings found on BuildingGreen's partner site, Designer Pages. It features more than 100 curated collections containing the best green products out there—along with some collections warning you which “ungreen” products to avoid.

UL SPOT

UL Environment

The UL SPOT database lets you research sustainability information on a large body of products. In addition to searching by product type and manufacturer, you can also find products that are eligible for credits toward building certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, CHPS, Green Globes, and WELL.

Living Building Challenge Materials Petal Database

Eskew+Dumez+Ripple

The LBC Materials Petal Database collects information about building materials by CSI Division. It includes a Regional Materials Map with a radius tool to facilitate product selection within LBC limits. The database seeks to collect vetted products, helpful diagrams, and research from the architecture community to build a resource for all firms seeking to create buildings free of Red List chemicals.
