What does it take to create truly healthier, sustainable affordable housing? Is it different from designing and building market rate housing?

Architect Taleen Josefsson will be in conversation with Alison Mears and Jonsara Ruth from Healthy Materials Lab about the positive impacts and challenges of specifying healthier, affordable materials for public and affordable housing.

Taleen is a New York State registered architect, holds a U.S. Passive House Consultant certification, is a BREEAM Accredited Professional, and has received training in Healthy Materials specification. She has been involved in environmental activism, participating in built environment related volunteer organizations to support the industry transition to a more equitable society and regenerative environment.

Having worked for a variety of firms in the USA & the UK as an architect, designer, and sustainability consultant over the past 10+ years, Taleen has recently established her own practice to work independently and apply her expertise through a holistic approach to architecture. She also works with other architecture firms in her capacity as a sustainability consultant.

Laurel Christensen, AIA, WELL AP serves as mindful MATERIALS Director of Engagement where she focuses on building industry partnerships and relationships with Architecture and Design firms, Contractors, and Owners across the built environment.
