Constraints Fuel Innovation

What would it look like to adopt a zero tolerance policy for harmful chemicals in your home? This means eliminating chemicals from the food you eat, the couch you sit on and the roof over your head. At a minimum, you would need to re-image any normative ways of thinking that encourage the use of domestic toxins.

For Ecovative, re-imaging the standard insulation process while maintaining a zero tolerance for the use of harmful chemicals led to the invention of mycellium mushroom insulation. A chemicals free, fire resistant insulation material designed for use in wall systems, acoustic panels and ceiling tiles. Made from mycellium and agricultural waste, this product is a true show of the innovation that is possible when we set parameters in place.
